Advice for Referrers
If you are a referrer (medical or therapist) and need further specific advice about sub-specialty management, please refer below for more information and how to contact us.
Facial Physiotherapy
Facial physiotherapy is a specialist niche area that requires postgraduate training in the anatomy and neurology of facial nerve injuries or disease and their management. Facial physiotherapy addresses both the neurological and non-neurological effects of facial nerve palsy, from a conservative (non-surgical) perspective. This includes, but is not limited to, addressing tightness, hypertonicity, synkinesis, ocular and oral competency and pain management.
A facial physiotherapist will thoroughly understand the concerns of the patient being raised and seek to improve the function and symmetry of the face affected by facial palsy. The therapist will assess the symmetry of static and dynamic expressions of the face and apply contemporary understanding and evidence-based treatments to the rehabilitation facial nerve palsy.
For referrers interested or unsure if your patient will benefit from facial physiotherapy, contact us at reception@klintneuro.com.au.
